The Every Child Matters agenda calls for a new approach to information that will enable multi-agency working and deliver improved outcomes.
VT Education and Skills is working innovatively with technology partners Edix Live and local authorities to provide a new approach to this complex area. Our system enables local authorities and schools to capture, analyse and present data in a way that can inform and assess school improvement and the impact of Every Child Matters initiatives.
By updating data from across the authority on a daily or weekly basis, effort can be directed where it achieves most impact. Rather than react to old and incomplete data, staff can proactively address emerging trends with targeted support, and demonstrate the impact of interventions in year.
This involves:
• collecting information from school, local authority and public sources securely, automatically and without extra effort
• accessing ‘near live’ data rather than waiting for reports to be prepared using data that is
• already out of date
• analysing it quickly to assess whether performance is improving and to prioritise the
• key issues to be addressed
• making the analysis available to those who need it
• arranging intervention and/or the allocation of resources to address the key issues
• engaging the learner and/or parent/carer
